Pete Nowakowski new city editor at Helena Independent Record

Congratulations to Pete Nowakowski, who is the new city editor of the Helena Independent Record.

All of us here at the Missoulian newsroom look forward to working with him … again!

Here’s the announcement, which came late today from IR editor John Doran:

I’m excited to announce that we’ve hired Pete Nowakowski as the new city editor of the Independent Record.

Pete is a familiar face, having worked as assistant news editor in the newsroom here for nearly three years before taking another position about eight months ago. He also previously worked at the Ravalli Republic, as well as The Great Falls Tribune.

Pete was an influential leader in our newsroom during his time at the IR, and steps into a position where he will have a significant role in improving our local news content in print and on the website. He brings sound news judgment, a strong vision for what our newsroom can achieve, and the ability to coach and influence our reporters to the best of their abilities.

His first day is tentatively scheduled for Sept. 3.

Again, congrats to Pete – and to the IR for a great hire!

  1. Nice work Pete! I’ve had the pleasure of working with Pete at the IR and the Kaimin, and I can only hope our career paths cross again sometime. This is a great move for the IR newsroom.
