It rained like cats and dogs: MPR reaches goal

Congratulations to our colleagues at Montana Public Radio, who raised a record $591,000 during their spring fundraising drive – which ended Sunday with the ever-popular, ever-rambunctious “Pet Wars.” (My church always donates money in honor of our mostly legendary “church mouse.”)

Here’s the good news, as provided by Montana Public Radio and the University of Montana:

C-SPAN lovers! The bus stops here on Wednesday

Are you a C-SPAN watcher?

I’ll admit, I pause when “channel surfing” and find that C-SPAN is airing the ever-rowdy “Prime Minister’s Moments” from British Parliament.

On Wednesday, Missoula will be paid a visit from [...]

A memorial service for former Billings Gazette sports editor Warren Rogers is Monday in Billings.

Rogers died last week, at age 74. He led the sports coverage in Billings from 1972 until his retirement in 2000 – and in that time, gave many young sportswriters their start in the business.

Two of those writers now [...]

Is this your prom photo?

We are honored to have been chosen as the backdrop for three couples’ pre-prom photo last night, as two Missoula high schools held their spring formals.

A reader e-mailed us this photo taken on the lawn in front of our building as the couples headed to dinner.

Problem is, they didn’t send along the cutline info – [...]

Kudos to Missoulian’s Tom Bauer for kitten photo

Photograph by TOM BAUER/Missoulian

A shout-out this morning to longtime Missoulian photographer Tom Bauer for his excellent photograph of a Missoula firefighter resuscitating a kitten trapped in a burning house earlier this week.

I’ve said here before how much I appreciate and admire the incredibly talented photographers on our staff at the Missoulian. Their work is [...]
